Pure Michigan

During the summer, my family and I will take a little trip up north. We have family friends who have a house we can stay in and we just travel to different lakes, coffee shops, and beaches. We hit the occasional boutique and my dad waits outside. That actually happens more than just occasionally.

The family we stay with has the DVDs of this show called Rockford Files. If you aren't familiar with it, it's an old time private investigator show. As soon as we got to the house, we turned that on and had some family time... in front of the TV! Some may argue that's not real family time but we had inside jokes from the show that continued throughout the trip.

In the morning we woke up and had breakfast. There is no WiFi at the house or any service so it was very peaceful. We usually don't use our phones at breakfast but not thinking about the wireless world was nice.

The family who lent us their house left some snacks on the counter for us - handmade granola, dried blueberries, and dried cherries from the farmers market, my favvvooorite chocolate, and some crackers. Pretty much everything they buy comes from the farmers market or a really nice store with healthy, organic food. After being in the house it makes me not want to buy grocery store food again. Also, they had the milk in the glass container the way I love it. So my morning started off well.

Well rounded breakfast... get it? ;)

We went to the farmers market to get some stuff for dinner and some micro greens to take home. Side note on micro greens - these little baby plants are the most delicious form of greens I have ever tasted. Plus they look fancy. You can't really find them in stores so farmers markets are the way to get them. I put them on sandwiches, burgers, toast, or make a mini salad. - We also got cookies and and a cinnamon roll to have with afternoon coffee. The woman who sells these makes them fresh the morning she sells them. They were unlike any cookie I've had and the cinnamon rolls had molasses in them. If you want the ingredients send me a message. I have them. But not the recipe.

Our whole trip almost was driving on M22, a highway that goes along the shore of Lake Michigan basically. You also are driving along other smaller lakes at the same time. We started driving and stopped at beaches along the way. We also stopped in little towns to shop, drink coffee and walk around. About half of the driving trip was looking at lake houses. They made me almost drool. I also decided I might want one as my cottage, a little one. Two little houses are the same as one big house right?

It was fun :) that's all I have to say about that.
