Going out dancing
Back in the day, people would go out on weekends and dance. They would dance at restaurants or hang out spots where everyone would gather. It wasn't like our prom and homecomings where most of the night includes standing awkwardly or just jumping up and down and maybe the occasional cha cha slide. People would do actual dances like the twist and they would go swing dancing.
Love letters
When people like our great grandparents were in love, they would write letters to each other and send them in the mail or just give them personally. People might have put them in shoe boxes and keep them forever like in one of my favorite movies The Longest Ride. Eventually they would get to share those notes and read them over and over again. There's something about handwriting that you can't get through text message.
Passing notes in class
Kids used to pass notes around class when the teacher had their back turned. This risky business could have landed you a stern talking to and maybe even the embarrassing punishment of reading the note aloud. The risk was all part of the fun and the whole class could be involved.
Talking on the phone
Conversations on the phone are most likely to be through either text or snapchat. These things are useful and pretty nice for the most part, however, there is a special connection that comes with talking on the phone. Points are made more clearly and words become more genuine when they are said out loud.
60's bathing suits
I personally think this was the best era for bathing suits. They were flattering on pretty much every body type and so cute. They will definitely be making a come back. At least for my beach trips.
Garage Bands
Groups would get together and play their instruments and sing in garages. I've only seen it in movies but I asked my mom and she confirmed that it was in fact a thing in real life. The bands would play in hopes to make it big someday or just for fun. I think hanging out in someones garage and trying to make music sounds pretty cool.
