This week two of my best friends, Chloe and Izzie, had a party for their 18th birthday. What's a birthday without a cool party to celebrate!? Chloe and Izzie always do the coolest things whether it be for team meals, parties, or just adventuring. This time was without a doubt a night that will always be remembered. The whole theme was a murder mystery at a masquerade. After joining in on the fun it made me want to break away from the usual bonfire or basement that is the icon of a high school party. Sure those can be fun, but we have the chance to have parties that are unforgettable! We can make our high school parties a little less traditional and do something out of the ordinary, like have a dance party, a puzzle putting together party, a costume party, a tent sleepover party, or a party where everyone comes over and makes dinner together!
Let The Party Begin.
The week leading up to the party everyone received a message that detailed what their name would be, what they should wear, and a couple key things about their character. A couple days later, we received three phone numbers that we had to send a message to. We were told what the message should say and what number to send it to. One of the messages I had to send was
Hello Charlie Perriwinkle I wanted to book you for an excursion last month but you were booked. I went down to your dock and I saw your boat. Do you not like me or something? We should talk at the masquerade ball.
When I got there, everyone was dressed up as their character. We all got name tags and masks along with an envelope that included the things we should talk about with other people. My character was Bat Von Aqua, a tattoo artist. Everything that came out of her mouth was surprising and negative. I was to read the poem inside my envelope to anyone who listened.
After we gathered as much information on the other characters as we could, it was time for round two. Everyone got new things to reveal and more questions to ask. While everyone was mingling, there was a scream from the kitchen; Chloe's character had been murdered and we had to find out who it was. We all went back outside and received papers where we wrote down evidence and who each of us thought was the murderer based on their alibi and motive. After we each reached our own conclusion, we got in a circle and went around and said who we thought was the murderer. We each received another envelope that said if we were or were not the murderer and why.
After the masquerade was over and the murder solved, we had a dance competition. I've never laughed so much in one night. It was one of the best nights ever!
